Birdwatching as Spiritual Practice

What is it about picking up a pair of binoculars, lifting your eyes up to a far-off fluttering, or attuning your ears to a familiar chirp, that transports so many of us to spaces of peace? Whether you’re in the woods with friend, on the seashore with family, or looking out the window of your apartment, join Cassandra Montenegro, second year Master of Divinity student at Harvard Divinity School, for a joyful journey into how birding and birdwatching can restore connection and confidence in our communities and ourselves.

Our service as accessible in person as well as online (email [email protected] to find out more). Children are welcome to participate in all parts the service as much or as little as they like. Childcare is available for children up to age 6. This Sunday the other children are invited to attend Children’s Chapel with our Director of Religious Education, Martha Durkee-Neuman. All who attend in person are required to remained masked and be vaccinated (if they are able).

We meet on the front steps of the church for a short song, then enter the building for the hybrid service, and then return to the front steps for another song and outdoor coffee hour to keep in line with our COVID safety policy.
