What’s On? 2026-2027
This year, we will have FIVE different Religious Education groups on weeks when we have classes:
- Roots (Ages 0-3): Child-directed play supported by professional childcare staff
- Saplings (Ages 4 – 6): This group will be exploring religious education classes with lots of hands on activities, such as songs, read-alouds, and play activities connected to our themes.
- Twigs (Ages 6-9): Our 1st to 3rd grade group will be exploring our shared values through activities grounded in stories and guided play.
- Branches (Ages 9-11): Our 4th-5th graders are taking Our Whole Lives (OWL), sexuality education focused on learning about topics like body image, gender identity, changes of puberty, and more.
- Leaves (Ages 11-14): Our middle school group will be playing a Role Playing Game (RPG) called Journeys of Deeper Joy, among other topics.
We are so excited to welcome back our three lead teachers: Adele, Natsu, and Alex. They will be working with our volunteers to teach our youth this year.

More information coming soon about what each group will focus on. Please sign up for our newsletter and/or see our calendar for updates).
For all our children:
- All Ages Events – Once a month or so, we host an All Ages Children’s Chapel or special event instead of RE classes. This is a program where all children have an opportunity to learn together regardless of age. Lessons are around the worship themes of the month and involve stories, crafts, and games.
- Multi-Generational Services – Children are always welcome in worship and the noises they make are sacred. However, about once a month we have a service specifically designed to be inclusive of all ages, and there are no separate Religious Education classes on these days.
Children and COVID Safety
In order to keep everyone safe, we ask that children with any symptoms stay home. All children who are eligible to receive a vaccine are strongly recommended to do so. We have masks available if you prefer to wear one, and we have special services where we ask everyone to mask.
If you have questions about an RE program for your child or want to get on our weekly newsletter, contact DRE Sara at dre@fpmalden.org.
