Hours: Sundays mornings, 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, two Sundays a month
Rate: $20 per hour – Payroll is issued every other week.
Job Description:
This position provides Nursery care for infants and toddlers ages 0 – 4 years of age Sunday mornings from September through mid-June, every other Sunday. Our safe congregation policy requires that two adults be present with the children, and we will maintain a ratio of 1:4. Our average attendance on a Sunday morning is from 6 to 8 children. Occasionally there may be a few older children, aged 5-7 for congregational meetings from noon to 1:00 p.m. A parent will be requested to stay if the number is higher than 8 children total.
The Nursery caregiver is supervised by the Director of Religious Exploration. If the DRE is not on site supervision is provided by a member of the Religious Exploration Committee.
Duties consist of:
- Communicate effectively with infants, toddlers, their parents, and other staff.
- Provide quality, nurturing care to infants and toddlers enrolled in the program.
- Demonstrate skills to properly address developmental needs of infants and toddlers.
- Maintain effective working relationships with children, parents, and staff.
- Sign In each child as they arrive. The attendance sheet is located on the table inside the room. Children are also signed out when exiting the room.
- If the family is new, please have them complete a Visitor Form and leave the completed form next to the sign-in, sign-out sheet.
- Maintain a safe, clean, care-giving environment, practice good personal hygiene and hand washing, and assures the well- being and safety of all of the children in that environment.
- When time permits, toys and surfaces should be wiped clean and any unwanted toys discarded or given to Director of Religious Education. Please return all toys to their proper bin/shelves before exiting the room for the morning.
- Inform the DRE if there is something missing or needed.
Educational Requirements:
- The applicant should have a high school diploma or equivalent, and be 18 years of age or older.
- Experience working with young children is required, and the applicant should enjoy working with children.
- First Aid and CPR are requirements for this position. If the applicant does not have this training, training will be provided.
- Applicants will be asked to complete a Criminal Background application (CORI) in accordance with Safe Congregation Policy.
